Cybersmart

 A couple of days ago, a few other people and I learnt about how to be cybersmart. First our teacher read us a story about a chick who lived at a farm and used the farmers computer to buy things and talked to online friends. Then he went to meet his online friend and it was actually a wolf. We learnt that we need to make sure that when we take pictures that in the background there are no pictures of your house or your mailbox.

Making Soundscapes

Last week, we made soundscapes. All we had to do was make a sound and we chose to do a weather soundscape. We used jellybeans for rain, paper strips for branches hitting together, Anika blowing for wind, snapping branches and whistling for birds. Before we made the soundscapes we learnt about musical instruments. I learnt about an erhu. It’s an instrument that comes from China and is very old.

Dinorama

In Te Maunga we learnt about dinosaurs. I learnt about a few dinosaurs but my favourite was the Titanoboa. When we had finished the learning, we got to make a dinorama. My group and I made a Titanoboa habitat. We made the Titanoboa out of red playdough and painted it black, we made grass out of some moss and we used sticks for trees. It only took a couple of days to complete it and it was pretty fun.

Pepeha And Greetings

In Te Maunga, we made a slideshow about our pepeha and Maori greetings. I learnt in Maori that e noho ra means goodbye to those who are staying. It was fun and I enjoyed doing it.

Collage Art

In Te Maunga, we did collage art. All we had to do is draw a scene about the book our teacher was reading. The book was about a battle between the mountains. I drew a scene at night with the two mountains and the moon. I had to use a lot of black for the background. I really liked this activity. 

Viruses

For the past two weeks, we have been working on posters about the different bugs and germs. My poster was about fungi, bacteria and viruses. I said that viruses and some other germs can make you very sick. I enjoyed doing this.
